This pattern is a great all-purpose storage bag, great for anything from sewing supplies, knitting/crochet supplies, and even childrens’ toys! I had some fantastic pattern testers go over this pattern before release, and I’d love to share their work with you right now! My friend Terry made the blue/green bag that she lent me for my cover photo – these Lakehouse fabrics make beautiful bags! Thank you so much to all of my pattern testers for your careful work!
Bree of My Crafty Crap made her bag in one of my favorite Ikea fabrics. The silver vinyl is smashing and Bree’s provided a 360 view of the bag. Love this!
Vanessa has used Erin Michaels ‘Purebred’ fabric (in true Vanessa style!) to make a gorgeous tote and accented her bag with leather straps! Gorgeous, I love everything about this!
Melaney made her bag in sewing notion-appropriate fabrics, with bright red straps and aqua lining to set apart each detail of the bag. Love it, beautiful work Melaney!
Mhairi made her bag in this cute vintage sewing room fabric, with berry solid for the straps and binding. How lovely and what a great tote to carry around sewing supplies!
Gasp! Julie made this amazing, kid-friendly bag with Lightning McQueen fabric! Totally awesome for keeping Legos or other toys in check!
Trina made this fabulous zig-zag bag and styled it beautifully with all of her sewing retreat supplies – machine sewing gloves, fabric, and notions!
Tiffany made her bag in adorable Heather Ross fabrics. So soft and pretty!
Jamie made her bag with a cross-hatch fabric for the background and a printed fabric for the pockets, which really helps all of the features stand out. I love this fabric combination!
Mary of Mary on Lake Pulaski made the brilliant craft bag with bright and happy fabric – this is quite a retro looking bag!
Becky quilted her main fabric, and here is the view of the back of the bag so that you can get a proper view of the quilting. This looks amazing!
Paula made this happy version in one of my favorite sewing-themed fabrics, with an aqua stripe for the pockets, polka dot binding, and red straps. Very well put together and carefully chosen fabrics, great job Paula!
Peta made her bag with nice sturdy straps and binding, and as you can see, has fit her knitting supplies with plenty of room to spare! Great work Peta!
Nancy made her bag in appropriate sewing fabrics, and as you can see, it fits a good amount of tools and fabric stash for your next project!
Cindy of Raspberry Sunshine made this bright lemon yellow tote bag, and it’s finished and pressed to perfection!
Sandie of Crazy ’bout Quilts made her bag in this beautiful featherweight fabric! And I love the red scissors lining so much!
Teresa made this pretty pink and red version and used my favorite type of fabric, the black and white polka dot! Smashing work Teresa!
Susan of SB Stitching made this adorable bag that I think would be perfect for a changing station for a baby – just an idea for a great baby shower gift!
Madelyn used this fantastic knitting-themed fabric for her knitting bag! Loads of supplies will fit inside!
This brilliant multi-color version was made by Carrie in a great straight-line green print and a pop of bold print for the pockets!
Nicole made this adorable version in Monster High licensed fabrics. My daughter really wants this one! – it would be perfect for storage for small toys for a child.
Loved making the Oslo bag in Shannon Brinkley’a Dryad fabrics. We even had it in the window at the local quilt shop with quilting rulers and charm packs and stuff in it for awhile. Thanks for another the great pattern!
Great Bag! Great idea for gifts for my quilting sisters.
I need to order some of your yummy glitter vinyl for the straps!
Sara, this is a wonderful looking bag…All these tester bags are so lovely…and practical. I cannot wait to make mine and hope it looks as fantastic as these ones are…….
Looks like a great pattern. Love all the testers versions and the many creative and useful possibilities!!
WOW that is an awesome bag … and free, to boot – so generous – thank you! I *love* that you posted so many finishes from your pattern testers – it’s such a great way to get inspiration and to get a really good feel for the finished bag 🙂
Thank you so much for this awesome pattern Sara. I have a friend that knits and I think this would be wonderful to make her for Christmas. I really love all the ones made by your testers. They are all beautiful . It would be hard to choose which one that I liked the most.
Thank you so much Sara for this awesome bag, which looks as though it could be used for almost any purpose. What do you think of using it as a diaper bag? Our grandchildren seem to be in the baby making business and we already have 9 great grandchildren, and with more getting married, I think there will probably be more arriving in the not too distant future. Let me know what you think about the diaper bag idea, and thanks again for being so generous with your free patterns.
Thank you very much! My sister will be loving(hopefully) this for Christmas.
All of those are really beautiful.
Hi Sara! Thank you so much for offering us this wonderful free pattern! That is so kind of you. I have purchased several of your bag patterns in the past and they have all be awesome, so was thrilled to see this pattern for the Oslo Craft Bag. It’s a really great-looking bag and would be so useful – I am looking forward to making several as gifts for my sewing/crafting friends. However, although I did subscribe to your Newsletter, I have NOT received the pattern. I have checked multiple times, and it is not in my spam file either. Could you please check to see why and maybe send it to me? I sincerely appreciate it, and thank you again!!
Thank you. Lovely pattern
Awesome bag pattern. I do have a baby shower coming up soon and that would be a good idea for the new Mom. I also want one for my own crafty stuff! Thank you so much.
Wow Sara – this looks great. And for free! 2x wow 😉
Like the big variety your test sewers created – a Tula version is definetly needed…maybe made by me. 🙂
Love these bags!! There are so many different ways they could be used.
Roseline
Bello el bolso. Me encantó! Soy suscriptora de tu blog desde hace tiempo y no me llegó el patrón de este bolso. O por lo menos no lo encuentro. Ya fue enviado o espera enviarlo en el futuro? Gracias!
Thank you!
Now I can’t wait for your newsletter. This bag is so organizationally fabulous!
Wow! It looks great and all for free!
Just got my pattern and can’t wait to make this bag. All of the samples are absolutely inspirational! I look forward to your monthly newsletter. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome pattern. 🙂
Have just finished your bag, first time using the bosal, excellent finish, thanks for the pattern.
What a beautiful bag! Thank you for the free pattern!
Thank you sooo much for the free pattern…
Hi Sara !! Thank You for this awesome pattern , I just Love It
thank you so much for this pattern . I will make it soon
I so love these bags I am so wanting to make some but only for myself if I can as I am a bit of an border and very untidy and these should help a lot only problem is I am not very good at sewing and cutting out is the worst for me so may need help
Iʻm not sure if Iʻm blind or just canʻt read. What do I do with the open corners of the liner and exterior of the bag? Does it stay unsewn? I read several times but couldnʻt figure it out.
Hi Venus! There technically won’t be ‘holes’ on the finished bag – where each end of stitching ends at that 1/2″, it technically takes up again on the next side, if that makes sense.
Thanks, after resting my brain, I figured it out and finished my bag, which turned out awesome, thanks so much for the pattern!
Thanks for the pattern and images… I was easily able to adapt the bag for my papercrafting needs. Regards, Karen
Can’t wait to see what you make!
Thanks alot for sharing this pattern with us Sara. This is very helpful. The instructions are very clear. Do you have a pattern of a bag/backpack for moms to carry all the baby items? My daughter is going to be a mommy this June. I want to stitch a backpack which will be helpful for her. you are a great teacher. Thanks again
Manel – sri lanka
Hi Manel! I have the Cumberland Backpack video+pdf pattern available here: https://sewsweetness.com/products/cumberland-backpack
Just found your site, what a fantastic place. So many wonderful projects, ideas, hints and tips you’ve all shared. I love sewsweetness, can’t wait to start the craft bag. Thank you so much
Thank you so much Dawn!
Great video, I really like that you show the “action” at the same speed as any sewer would! I am definitely going to try and make this. By the way, would it be an idea to add a (thin) cardboard bottom between outer bag and lining? If so, how would you suggest to keep this in place?
Yes! You can make a false bottom; check around 23 minutes in to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N19-JIAuYk
I am already a subscriber so I ‘subscribed’ again so that I can get the pattern emailed to me but I’ve still not received it and I can find no where where it can otherwise be downloaded.
hi Sara, would you please send me a link to download the oslo bag pattern?
